In recent years, an expansion of the scope of private‒public cooperation has been scheduled under the ¡°Strategic Plan for International Development Cooperation¡± and ¡°Mid-term plan supporting CSOs¡± (2011‒2013). This has led to a need to study measures to establish mid- to long-term cooperative systems between the public and private sectors, and measures to effectively implement projects based on such partnerships. This study reviews the sponsorship status of overseas aid organizations to suggest measures for expanding or improving KOICA¡¯s NGO sponsorship projects, in line with the increase in ODA from the Korean government and the rapid growth in development NGOs. During a DAC peer review, countries that were evaluated positively in the category of NGO sponsorship or those with a high share of NGO sponsorship out of their total ODA budget were analyzed for their strategy to draw conclusions and implications that can be applied by KOICA¡¯s own NGO sponsorship projects.
